Oldham's reputation was shaped by its success as a manufacturing town during the industrial revolution. A world renowned centre for the manufacture of cotton, by the late 19th century it had become the most productive cotton-spinning town in the world.

Kirklees Studio School

Kirklees' reputation as one of the centres of British manufacturing was secured by the success of its textile industry during the industrial revolution. The creativity that helped it to prosper then is still alive today. In 1997 Kirklees pioneered the concept of the 'Creative Town', placing creativity at the heart of the regeneration of Huddersfield.

South Tyneside has a rich manufacturing history. Once the heart of British heavy industry, at one time a quarter of the world's ships were built in its shipyards.

Blackpool Studio

However, the emergence of an increasingly globalised service economy has brought with it new challenges for the town. In response to this Blackpool Council has joined forces with businesses and wider partners to lead on the development and delivery of the unique Blackpool Studio.

Newham Studio School

As part of this transformation Newham Council and Newham College for Further Education are leading on the development and delivery of Newham's pioneering new Studio School.
