Studio Schools highlighted in Alternative Provision White Paper

Studio Schools have been highlighted in the government's Alternative Provision White Paper 'Back on Track'. The Paper, published on 20th May 2008, sets out the government’s proposals for transforming alternative provision to better meet the needs of young people across the country.

Studio Schools are not for ‘problem teenagers' or an alternative to Pupil Referral Units (PRUs). Instead they will aim to attract a wide range of young people. These include entrepreneurial teenagers wanting more opportunities to start and run businesses as well as disengaged young people who are otherwise at risk of falling out of education.
