Kirklees Studio School
Kirklees' reputation as one of the centres of British manufacturing was secured by the success of its textile industry during the industrial revolution. The creativity that helped it to prosper then is still alive today. In 1997 Kirklees pioneered the concept of the 'Creative Town', placing creativity at the heart of the regeneration of Huddersfield.
The Kirklees Studio School builds on this creative tradition. Specialising in the creative industries, the school will provide young people from across Huddersfield with the opportunity to participate in practical multi-disciplinary learning and take part in paid work experience in their local area.
It reflects Kirklees Council's continuing ambition for Huddersfield to use creativity and the creative business sector to equip local people with the experience and skills they need to become successful and active members of their local community.
